INFERNO
2010 18 Min. Turkey
“Dante and Virgil's poetic journey continues through nine circles of hell in the age of Youtube.”
Inferno is a video art project that reinterprets Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy within the context of the digital age, using YouTube as a modern-day equivalent of Dante's nine circles of Hell. Each section of the video corresponds to a circle, drawing parallels between the sinners in Dante's Hell and the vast array of content on YouTube, where human expression is on full display. The project reflects on how YouTube, like Dante's Inferno, serves as a mirror of humanity's collective soul, capturing the full spectrum of human experience in its most raw and unfiltered forms. By navigating the chaotic and often unsettling world of online media, Inferno invites viewers to consider the enduring nature of human struggle, suggesting that while the medium has changed, the essence of our moral and existential challenges remains constant.
